Michael E. Pearson's deep compliance expertise and steady, thoughtful leadership offer perspective and mentorship that enrich Balentine at every level. Since joining the firm in 2022, he has served as Chief Compliance Officer, guiding Balentine’s SEC-regulated compliance program and ensuring the firm operates with integrity and care. His calm judgment and willingness to support others have made him a trusted presence across the organization.

In addition, as a Principal and member of the Management Team, Mike helps shape firm strategy, strengthen collaboration, and guide teams through an increasingly complex regulatory landscape. When challenges arise, Mike brings a perspective that is both practical and reassuring, reminding those around him of the importance of discipline, clarity, and doing what is right.

Before joining Balentine, Mike served as Deputy Chief Compliance Officer in Private Wealth Management at Truist Bank (formerly SunTrust Bank) and as Chief Compliance Officer for GenSpring Family Offices. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Rowan University, serves on the Advisory Board of the Marcus Autism Center, and is a FINRA Industry Arbitrator.

Mike’s presence leaves a lasting impact on the teams he supports, the colleagues he guides, and our firm as it continues to evolve.

Q&A

Why did you choose to come to work at Balentine?

It was clear from my first interactions that Balentine is a special place. It clearly puts client interests first and is committed to high standards of integrity and ethics. These values permeate the entire firm.

What was the hardest lesson learned and how did you learn it?

“To know what I don’t know and be willing to admit it”.  Early on in my career this was hard for me to do because I felt like I needed to demonstrate my value by having all the answers. As I gained experience and the natural wisdom that comes with it, I now understand that it actually demonstrates strength not weakness.

What do you like to do in  your down time away from work?

Spending time with my wife and four children and all things baseball related - coaching, umpiring, watching, and even playing in a 50+ league here in Atlanta.

Where was the most exotic place you have been?

Ireland's Cliffs of Moher

If you weren't in this business, what would you be doing?

I would be a Park Ranger.
