What is the most exotic place you have ever been?
In the fall of 2023, I traveled to the remote island of Sulawesi, Indonesia, for 10 days. There, I witnessed a traditional funeral where buffalo and pigs were sacrificed, and I foraged for coffee beans and fruit. I also enjoyed lots of hiking, swimming in the clear ocean, and taking in the regional culture.
What do you personally think makes Balentine different from other wealth management organizations?
I was drawn to Balentine for several reasons, including its commitment to office culture. Balentine is intentional about cultivating a collaborative, uplifting, and dedicated community, which I immediately recognized was unique in this business. Balentine also invests in its female employees, which was non-negotiable for me when I entered the wealth management space.
How and why did you get into this business?
Although I have a degree in Economics, I also have one in Art History. I am interested in the intersection of these seemingly different fields, and wealth management uniquely fits both. I sought a career that would allow me to exercise my quantitative brain and passion for art, a prominent asset class. Wealth management and art history require attention to minute detail and big-picture context.
What is your favorite sport or activity? Why?
My favorite form of exercise is a long walk with a podcast or a family member or friend on the phone. For a strenuous workout, though, I love spin classes or any kind of group fitness class. I taught group fitness classes for three years at Swarthmore College and enjoyed curating playlists, writing creative class plans, and seeing folks reach their goals in real-time.
Who were your heroes growing up and how did that influence your life and career?
My mother is a force of nature and my closest friend. She has supported my endeavors since I was young and doesn’t take no for an answer. Because of this, I have had the courage to put myself out there for various opportunities and have learned how to bounce back from failure. In my personal life and early career, her example and presence has been invaluable.
