Liz Thomas, CFP® serves as Balentine’s Head of Marketing, where she oversees the firm’s strategic communications, public relations, and digital presence. Under her leadership, Balentine has achieved key milestones, including a comprehensive rebrand, the launch of a new website, and the publication of First Generation Wealth. Known for her visionary approach, Liz is a trusted thought partner and a core contributor to the Client Experience and Family & Legacy teams, making a significant impact across the organization.
With over 15 years of expertise in marketing strategy and execution, Liz has spent the past decade specializing in the financial services industry, working with leading firms such as AIG SunAmerica, UBS, and Nora Wealth. She also founded her own firm, Thimble Marketing, where she honed her entrepreneurial skills. Missing the energy and collaboration of a team environment, Liz was drawn to Balentine, which has proven to be a perfect fit for her talents and values.
A proud graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Liz is a lifelong learner dedicated to advancing her expertise across all facets of her role. In finance, she earned the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® certification, deepening her understanding of the challenges clients face and how financial services can help them achieve their financial and philanthropic goals. In marketing, she completed the Yale School of Management’s Digital Marketing Executive Education program, sharpening her skills in a rapidly evolving field. In leadership, Liz completed Vistage’s Emerging and Advanced Leader Programs, further refining her ability to inspire and guide teams.
Committed to sharing knowledge, Liz has spoken at several regional and national conferences, offering insights to peers and industry professionals. At UBS, she played an active role in the internship and career development programs, fostering the next generation of talent. At Balentine, Liz continues this passion as a mentor in the firm’s mentorship program, helping colleagues grow and thrive. Further, she leads the Balentine Foundation, which coordinates grants and volunteer opportunities for causes important to the firm.

What inspires you to come to work each day?
Balentine has the people, experience, and leadership to make a tremendous impact on clients and change the landscape of the wealth management industry. It’s inspiring to be a part of that, and it motivates me to elevate my own role and contribution to the team.
What do you like to do in your down time away from work?
Read for pleasure (particularly with a mountain view), watch my kids play together, and host backyard Sunday cookouts with friends and family.
Where is the most exotic place you have ever been?
Český Krumlov, a magical town in the Czech Republic.
Why did you choose to come to work at Balentine?
The people. It’s exciting to join an organization with such talented team members who have not only an insatiable drive for excellence but also the conviction to care deeply for clients and each other.
What was your hardest lesson learned?
There is an internal battle we face every day, whether we realize it or not. We experience anger, envy, doubt, sorrow and regret, but we also experience joy, peace, kindness, empathy and generosity. We can choose which side of ourselves to feed.
