How and why did you get into this business?
I was a government major at Harvard, but, being a four-year member of the varsity lacrosse team, I knew that I wanted a fast-paced job right out of school. Going to Lehman Brothers’ trading floor seemed like a perfect training ground for anything I wanted to do, but once I got there I found out I loved the markets.
Why did you choose to come to work at Balentine?
After spending almost 10 years in the grind of New York City and Wall Street, I knew it was time for a change, both personally and professionally. I wanted to join a private independent firm that put clients first, and Balentine ended up being a perfect fit.
Why does Balentine exist?
Balentine does things differently. In an era of increased technology and so many investment choices, Balentine makes investing and financial planning personal again.
What inspires you to come to work each day?
My clients. I love helping and educating people on why we do what we do. When I see a person or a family buy into our investment philosophy, it is the most rewarding experience.
What do you like to do in your down time away from work?
I spend time with my son, Owen. I also volunteer for autism-related charities — a cause close to my heart as my brother, Billy, is autistic.
