Q&A

How does your role fit in the big picture of serving clients?

My goal is to educate clients through the content we create. I hope that in times of distress our message reassures them.

What do you personally think makes Balentine different from other wealth management organizations?

The emphasis on education for both employees and clients. Our industry has made itself complicated by jargon, acronyms, and too much technical speak. As Director of Communications, one of my jobs is to wade through the complications and help create content that clients can digest.

What inspires you to come to work each day?

The feeling that I’m making a difference in the lives of our clients and in the reputation of our industry. Seeing the world catch onto ideas that we at Balentine have been talking and writing about for the past seven years is very rewarding.

Who were your heroes growing up and how did that influence your life and career?

My father, Louis Lee. He is the hardest worker I have ever met, will do anything for his family, and loves the land. His quiet generosity and servant’s heart are qualities I try to emulate.

Jo Walthall is Balentine’s Director of Communications. In this role, she is responsible for the firm’s public relations and marketing efforts. Jo began her career at Homrich Berg and joined Balentine ten months after its founding. For three years, Jo served on the advisory board of Club Blue, the young professionals group benefiting the Boys and Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta and chaired the board during its 2014 term. In recognition of this service, she received the Blue Door award and was named “Club Blue Member of the Year” by BGCMA. Jo has written articles for The Red & Black, Thomasville Magazine, and NAPFA Magazine and has been quoted in publications including the International Business Times.
